Secondary school admissions: JPZ and DiPSy

How it works

  1. 1Pick programmesUp to 3 programmes without and 2 with an aptitude exam. A conservatoire application reduces these numbers.
  2. 2Rank themThe order is binding. Put the programme you want most first and a safer choice lower down.
  3. 3Sit the JPZCzech and maths, two attempts, the better result counts. The JPZ makes up at least 60% of the assessment.
  4. 4Results in DiPSyYou are admitted only to the highest priority where you succeed; lower ones lapse.

Rules worth knowing

  • The JPZ makes up at least 60% of the overall assessment (40% at sports grammar schools). The head teacher may set a minimum score.
  • Primary school grades are no longer a mandatory criterion; schools may still use them.
  • A school counselling recommendation (adjusted conditions) is attached only with a registration ID in DiPSy.
  • Schools publish criteria and the number of places 15–31 Jan 2027, only three weeks before the application deadline. Last year’s criteria are only a guide.
  • There is no JPZ in round 2; round 1 results are used. From round 3 on, applications are on paper without priorities.
  • Changes such as “exams first, then applications” or 5 applications have not been adopted and do not apply for 2027/28.
CERMAT statistics on programmes For each programme we show how many applied, how many were admitted and the lowest JPZ score admitted. It is not a cut-off: it depends on demand and priorities. We do not rank schools. Compare your score with them →
